Role overview

Work arrangement

• Hybrid role based at Safe Software’s Surrey, British Columbia headquarters.

Responsibilities

• Lead developers through coaching, feedback, and professional development.
• Prioritize work with Product, UX, and technical stakeholders; oversee delivery and address risks early.
• Support architecture and design discussions and foster inclusive team collaboration.
• Guide hiring, onboarding, and team growth.
• Promote continuous improvement, including AI-assisted development practices.
• Represent team and business needs across the organization.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in software development, including 3+ years leading software teams as a people manager, team lead, or similar; direct people management is strongly preferred.
• Solid understanding of Agile practices and software system design.
• Experience with Java, TypeScript, C++, Python, or equivalent technologies.
• Strong communication, collaboration, empathy, and ability to build healthy, inclusive teams.
• Ability to balance technical direction with team and business priorities; openness to AI tools and a track record of shipping products.
• Familiarity with Safe Software’s platform or similar domains, mentoring or culture-building, hiring and onboarding, and AI coding agents are nice-to-haves.
