Software Development Engineer II (Mobile)

Role overview

Development and optimization

• Design, develop, and maintain mobile applications and reusable components using React Native.
• Own features from development through testing and production release.
• Improve rendering, startup time, responsiveness, memory use, stability, lists, and complex UI interactions.
• Use profiling and debugging tools to find performance bottlenecks.
• Troubleshoot React Native across JavaScript and native layers, including iOS- and Android-specific issues.
• Work with FlashList, React Native Reanimated, React Native Gesture Handler, Expo, and TurboModules when needed.

Quality and collaboration

• Develop and maintain tests; resolve development and production issues.
• Participate in code reviews and follow testing, documentation, and production-readiness standards.
• Collaborate across Product, Design, Backend, and engineering teams to turn requirements into technical solutions.
• Contribute to technical decisions, share knowledge, support junior engineers, and improve team workflows.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of professional software, frontend, or mobile engineering experience, including 2+ years building production React Native applications.
• Strong JavaScript and TypeScript proficiency and understanding of React Native fundamentals.
• Understanding of mobile architecture, rendering, state management, and performance optimization.
• Hands-on React Native optimization and troubleshooting experience across JavaScript and native layers.
• Experience with FlashList, React Native Reanimated, React Native Gesture Handler, and Expo.
• Proficiency with Flipper, React DevTools, and Chrome DevTools; familiarity with iOS and Android fundamentals.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred qualifications

• Consumer-facing mobile application development and React Native performance profiling experience.
• Familiarity with the New React Native Architecture, including JSI, Fabric, and TurboModules.
• Native SDK or module integration, mobile CI/CD and release workflows, observability, crash reporting, monitoring, or analytics experience.
• Experience in e-commerce, retail, or other high-scale consumer applications; mentoring or contributing to engineering standards.
