About Hatch

Hatch Studio has built and operated software since 2011, including products used by millions of people.

The company is based in Vancouver, with team members across Canada, and encourages exploration and sharing of AI tools in daily work.

About the role

The first Business Development and Discovery Lead will own outreach end to end, from finding prospects and starting conversations to booking qualified meetings.

The role sells AEPilot-powered managed software delivery to business leaders at mid-to-large companies, especially in regulated and operations-heavy sectors.

Client engagements begin with a paid 2–3 week Planning Sprint that produces a plan, budget, and date, followed by product delivery and ongoing operation.

The position is hybrid in Vancouver or remote within Canada, with work aligned to Pacific Time business hours.

Responsibilities

  • Research target prospects using LinkedIn Sales Navigator, referrals, and warm introductions; conduct outreach by LinkedIn, email, and phone.
  • Hold discovery conversations about companies' use of AI in software development and related challenges.
  • Qualify project, budget ownership, timing, and Planning Sprint fit, then book qualified meetings.
  • Document each conversation and maintain a clean CRM.
  • Share buyer language monthly and help shape outbound campaigns.

Requirements

  • Experience in or around the software development lifecycle, such as development, QA, business analysis, product ownership, project management, or technical account management.
  • Proven B2B sales or business development experience in outbound outreach, meeting booking, and qualification; services or software sales to non-technical buyers is ideal.
  • Daily use of AI tools with a critical approach to reviewing and refining their output.
  • Excellent written and spoken business English; strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and teamwork abilities.
  • Must reside in Canada, be eligible to work in Canada, and be able to work Pacific Time business hours; evening remote meetings may sometimes be required.
  • Regulated-industry sales, consulting or agency sales, and a Vancouver or Canada network are nice-to-haves.
  • A background check is required.

Pay and benefits

  • Pay is $65,000–$80,000 CAD per year, plus performance-based commission tied to qualified meetings and closed Planning Sprints.
  • Benefits include a Health Spending Account, disability and life insurance, paid time off, and flexible hybrid or work-from-home arrangements.

Schedule and employment

  • Permanent, full-time position with a Monday-to-Friday schedule.

Application

  • Applicants are asked to submit a résumé and a short note describing a time they booked a meeting with a hard-to-reach buyer.
