Role Description
The Software Asset Management Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Hybrid / Remote.
About The Role
- As a Software Asset Management (SAM) Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting
- enterprise Software Asset Management operations, with a strong focus on OpenText / Micro
- Focus / legacy HP SAM environments.
- This role requires hands-on experience managing enterprise SAM platforms, software
- compliance, discovery, entitlement reconciliation, audit readiness, and software lifecycle
- governance.
- We are specifically looking for professionals who have worked directly within OpenText Asset
- Manager, Micro Focus Asset Manager, HP Asset Manager, or closely related enterprise SAM
- ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of software assets, including planning, acquisition,
- deployment, monitoring, maintenance, renewal, and retirement.
- Operate and support enterprise SAM environments, particularly within OpenText /
- Micro Focus / HP ecosystems.
- Manage software license compliance across subscription, perpetual, SaaS, cloud,
- and hybrid licensing models.
- Maintain entitlement repositories and reconcile discovered software against
- contractual licensing positions.
- Generate audit-ready compliance reports and support software vendor audits.
- Monitor software usage and identify over-licensed or under-licensed conditions.
- Support software discovery, normalization, software catalog maintenance, and asset
- data accuracy.
- Manage discovery integrations and ensure reliable inventory visibility across
- enterprise environments.
- Build dashboards and reporting for IT, procurement, compliance, and business
- stakeholders.
- Collaborate with procurement, infrastructure, operations, and governance teams for
- software asset optimization.
- Support process automation and continuous improvement initiatives within the SAM
- function.
- Contribute to knowledge transfer and internal enablement for relevant teams.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3+ years of hands-on Software Asset Management experience.
- Direct experience with one or more of the following: OpenText Asset Manager or Micro Focus Asset Manager or HP Asset Manager and Related OpenText / HP software asset ecosystems
- Strong knowledge of software licensing models and compliance governance.
- Experience with enterprise discovery and inventory tools.
- Familiarity with software normalization, entitlement reconciliation, and audit processes.
- Experience supporting software vendor audits and compliance reporting.
- Understanding of ITIL SAM practices and ISO/IEC 19770 standards.
- Strong analytical, reporting, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Exposure to enterprise IT environments, procurement, and governance functions.
