SOC Engineer

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, secure and optimise Linux, Windows and SIEM platforms supporting SOC services.
• Investigate and resolve infrastructure, system and integration issues.
• Manage system updates, patching and lifecycle maintenance to reduce vulnerabilities and strengthen resilience.
• Support log collection, system integrations and security monitoring infrastructure to improve threat visibility and detection.
• Develop scripts using Bash, PowerShell, Python or regular expressions to streamline operational tasks.
• Perform routine network configuration and troubleshooting, including basic Fortinet firewall and switch changes.
• Contribute to SOC infrastructure projects and service improvements, collaborating with security and infrastructure teams.
• Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures and configuration records.

Qualifications and requirements

• Practical experience administering and supporting IT infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of Linux, Windows and technologies underpinning security operations.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues, support secure environments and use scripting to improve operational efficiency.
