Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for an SMS Caster Incharge located in Al Hidayriyyat.
The SMS Caster Incharge oversees day-to-day operations of the steel melting shop (SMS) continuous caster, including monitoring casting parameters, coordinating heat sequences, and ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.
The role involves supervising shift teams, allocating tasks, and providing technical guidance to operators and technicians.
Responsibilities include coordinating with steelmaking, maintenance, and quality control teams to minimize downtime, troubleshoot process deviations, and optimize yield.
The SMS Caster Incharge also prepares daily production reports, supports root-cause analysis for defects, ensures compliance with standard operating procedures, and contributes to process improvements and training initiatives.
Qualifications
- Solid technical knowledge of continuous casting operations, SMS processes, and steel metallurgy, with the ability to interpret process parameters and product specifications.
- Experience in production planning, shift supervision, and coordination between operations, maintenance, and quality teams in a steel plant or similar heavy industry.
- Strong focus on safety, quality control, and adherence to standard operating procedures, including incident reporting and corrective actions.
- Proficiency in using plant control systems, basic production reporting tools, and data analysis for process optimization.
- Effective leadership, communication, and team management skills, with the ability to train and mentor operational staff.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical, Mechanical, Production, or related Engineering discipline (or equivalent industrial experience).
- Previous experience as a Caster Incharge, SMS shift incharge, or similar role in steel manufacturing is highly preferred.
- Willingness to work in rotating shifts and in a heavy industrial environment, with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities under time-sensitive conditions.
