Role overview
Produce Canadian-made garments and other products using production sewing machines and equipment while meeting quality, deadline, and output expectations.
The position is based at the Stanfield's plant/factory at 1 Logan Street, Truro, Nova Scotia.
Schedule
- Regular schedule is Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- No travel is required.
Key responsibilities
- Assemble garment pieces using production equipment, including serging, flatlock, felling, banding, tackers, pocket setters, buttonhole makers, fusing machines, and hemmers.
- Inspect and repair garments and other articles during production; monitor machine setup and product quality and report equipment issues.
- Complete production reports and track and report individual output.
- Perform minor machine maintenance and repairs, clean machines, and change needles.
- Follow company procedures and health and safety requirements, and meet production deadlines and output targets.
Education and skills
- High school education and basic English reading, speaking, and writing ability.
- Sewing Machine Operator experience is preferred but is not essential.
- Candidates need color discrimination, attention to detail, hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, independently, and within a team.
Working conditions
- Work takes place entirely in a plant or factory.
- Physical demands include sitting for extended periods, regularly lifting up to 5 pounds, and climbing and descending six flights of stairs daily.
- The role requires visual accuracy and focused attention; physical demand is described as low to moderate intensity.
