Role Summary and Impact

  • WPP Media is looking for an experienced SEO Manager to lead the organic search strategy for a major banking client from an agency side.
  • This role will be responsible for managing and delivering the full SEO scope across technical SEO, content, GEO (Generative Engine Optimization), and Google Business Profile, while acting as a key day-to-day contact for the client.
  • Lead the SEO strategy and day-to-day delivery for different accounts across technical, content, local, and GEO workstreams.
  • Act as the main point of contact for the client on SEO matters, ensuring smooth communication, alignment, and delivery against agreed objectives.
  • Build and manage quarterly and annual SEO roadmaps aligned with the client s business priorities, product focus areas, and seasonal campaigns.
  • Oversee technical SEO audits and implementation planning, covering crawlability, indexation, site performance, mobile usability, structured data, and internal linking.
  • Develop content and on-page optimization recommendations across key banking products and services such as accounts, cards, loans, investments, and branch pages.
  • Lead the GEO strategy to improve the brand s visibility across AI-powered search platforms and generative experiences.
  • Manage and optimize Google Business Profile for branch locations, ensuring listing accuracy, category optimization, updates, reviews, and local visibility improvements.
  • Work closely with internal teams including content, tech, analytics, and strategy to ensure SEO recommendations are implemented effectively.
  • Monitor performance across organic search, local search, and AI search visibility, and provide regular reporting with clear insights and actions.
  • Ensure all SEO recommendations are aligned with the standards required for a regulated banking environment, including trust, accuracy, and compliance considerations.
  • Identify growth opportunities through keyword research, competitor benchmarking, content gaps, and search trend analysis.

Skills

  • and Experience
  • 4+ years of SEO experience, ideally within an agency environment.
  • Proven experience managing large or enterprise-level clients.
  • Strong knowledge of technical SEO, on-page SEO, content strategy, and local SEO.
  • Good understanding of GEO / AI search optimization and how brands can improve visibility across LLMs and generative search platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with Google Business Profile optimization, especially for multi-location businesses.
  • Experience using tools such as Google Search Console, GA4, Looker Studio, SEMrush, Screaming Frog, and similar SEO platforms.
  • Strong client management and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and coordinate with different internal specialists.
