Overview

Requirements

• You have proven experience writing long-form, story-driven YouTube scripts (please include examples with your application)
• You have a strong understanding of YouTube retention mechanics, curiosity loops, and pacing
• You can take a simple idea and build it into a compelling, structured narrative with a clear story arc
• You're able to balance entertainment-first writing with educational and how-to content woven in naturally
• You write with personality — think dad energy, curiosity, humor, and just the right amount of "food science nerd"
• You can turn a single rough concept into a full script with visual/B-roll suggestions included
• Bonus: you have a genuine interest in food, BBQ, or cooking

Responsibilities

• Take rough ideas (e.g. "Why your brisket is tough") and develop them into fully structured, story-driven scripts
• Follow a clear 3 or 5-act narrative structure — leading with a character flaw, escalating stakes, problem-resolution loops, and a satisfying transformation
• Open each script with a strong hook rooted in curiosity, a secret, or a compelling story setup
• Write with tight pacing to maintain viewer attention throughout 20-minute long-form videos
• Incorporate light visual direction, B-roll suggestions, and skit ideas within the script
• Balance entertainment as the primary driver, with how-to/recipe content second and food science third
• Capture Steve's distinct voice: curious, slightly humorous, practical, and results-focused
