The Role
We're hiring a Senior WordPress Engineer for a full-time hybrid role based in Dubai, with flexibility to work remotely part of the week.
You'll own the WordPress side of our platform: the official Insynia WordPress plugin, the connectors and APIs that let our AI agents safely read and modify customer sites, and the reference themes we ship and maintain.
You'll work alongside our AI, backend, and product teams to make sure that when an Insynia agent says "I'll fix it," the change that lands on a customer's WordPress site is clean, safe, and production-grade.
This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who knows WordPress deeply; hooks, the REST API, multisite, capabilities, the database and is excited about agents writing code against the platform they love.
What you'll do
- 3/5+ years of professional WordPress development, with deep, idiomatic knowledge of PHP 8+, the WP Hooks API, WP_Query, custom post types, taxonomies, capabilities, and the REST API.
- Proven track record shipping custom WordPress plugins that are distributed, versioned, and run on sites you don't control.
- Strong modern JavaScript / TypeScript, with comfort in the block editor (Gutenberg), React, and the WP data layer.
- Solid HTML, CSS, and responsive design chops, you can build a clean front-end without reaching for a framework.
- Real experience debugging production WordPress sites: profiling slow queries, untangling plugin conflicts, hardening against XSS/SQLi/auth issues.
- Deep understanding of SEO fundamentals as they apply to WP: schema markup, canonicals, sitemaps, Core Web Vitals, indexability.
- Fluent with modern dev workflows: Git, pull requests, code review, CI, semantic versioning, automated testing (PHPUnit, Playwright, or similar).
- Comfortable reading API docs and integrating third-party services (GitHub, Google APIs, Stripe, webhooks).
- Nice to have
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience publishing a plugin on the WordPress.org plugin directory or maintaining a commercial plugin.
- Familiarity with WP-CLI, WP Multisite, and managed-WordPress host quirks.
- Background working with LLMs, AI agents, or function-calling APIs — or genuine curiosity about how to design WordPress surfaces that AI can safely use.
- Exposure to a Node.js / TypeScript backend and modern React (Next.js) — you don't need to write it daily, but you'll talk to engineers who do.
- Experience with performance tooling (Lighthouse, WebPageTest, New Relic) and edge platforms (Cloudflare).
