Position Overview
Independently manage engineering, coordination, execution, and delivery of major infrastructure projects in Ras Al Khaimah.
Manage infrastructure packages from tender evaluation and design development through construction, testing, commissioning, authority clearances, and final handover.
The role covers design, technical, construction, commercial, and project management responsibilities.
Experience and Expertise
- 10–15 years of experience, including a minimum of 7 years of UAE experience.
- Practical engineering and construction experience across sewerage, stormwater drainage, potable water, irrigation, external firefighting networks, associated civil works, and multidisciplinary infrastructure coordination.
- Expertise in wet utilities engineering, hydraulic design review, construction methodologies, value engineering, project management, authority approvals, quantity surveying, and commercial administration.
Scope of Expertise
- Sewerage systems include gravity pipelines, rising mains, manholes, lifting and pumping stations, and associated infrastructure.
- Stormwater systems include gravity networks, catch basins, gullies, attenuation or detention systems, pumping stations, oil interceptors, and outfalls.
- Potable water systems include transmission and distribution pipelines, valve chambers, metering, connections, and pressure systems.
- Irrigation systems include pipelines, treated-water distribution, valve chambers, pumps, and related installations.
- External firefighting systems include hydrants, underground pipelines, sectional valves, and associated installations.
- Associated civil works include excavation, trenching, shoring, dewatering, bedding, backfilling, concrete structures, thrust blocks, road crossings, reinstatement, and utility protection.
- Coordination covers utility corridors, road interfaces, service diversions, dry utilities, utility crossings, and underground service clashes.
Engineering, Design Review and Technical Management
- Review IFC and tender drawings, technical specifications, BOQs, and design reports for accuracy, constructability, and contractual compliance.
- Review hydraulic calculations, pipe sizing, gradients, flow velocities, hydraulic grade lines, pumping capacities, and network performance.
- Verify drainage catchments, stormwater design criteria, peak discharge rates, attenuation needs, and pumping arrangements.
- Prepare, review, and coordinate shop drawings, profiles, cross-sections, utility layouts, coordinated services drawings, and engineering submissions.
- Identify design discrepancies, utility clashes, scope gaps, technical risks, and optimization opportunities.
- Prepare and review RFIs, technical queries, material submittals, method statements, and design clarification reports.
- Coordinate with designers and consultants on compliant, buildable, cost-effective solutions.
Value Engineering and Design Optimization
- Lead value engineering for sewerage, stormwater, potable water, irrigation, and related infrastructure systems.
- Evaluate alternative pipe materials, diameters, alignments, invert levels, manhole arrangements, pumping capacities, and construction methods; compare gravity and pumped systems where feasible.
- Develop alternatives supported by calculations, drawings, cost comparisons, technical risk assessments, and lifecycle considerations.
- Quantify potential savings and prepare technical-commercial proposals for consultant and client approval.
- Ensure alternatives meet design criteria, authority requirements, and project performance standards.
Construction and Site Execution
- Plan, organize, and supervise infrastructure construction activities.
- Manage excavation, dewatering, shoring, underground piping, manhole construction, pumping stations, backfilling, and reinstatement.
- Review and implement approved construction methods, work sequences, inspection plans, and site logistics.
- Supervise engineers, supervisors, foremen, subcontractors, and site manpower.
- Coordinate equipment deployment, materials, and subcontractors.
