About AeroVect

AeroVect develops autonomous ground handling technology for airlines and ground service providers.

The company is a Series A business serving major airline and ground handling customers.

Role Overview

The Senior UX Designer will define the design vision, standards, and execution for AeroVect's Autonomous Ground Support Equipment Service.

The role establishes the design function and focuses primarily on Fleet Operations, including remote assistance, dispatch, and fleet monitoring.

The designer will also shape customer-facing tools for airline and airport stakeholders, including dashboards, reporting, and SLA visibility.

Design Vision and Systems

  • Establish design principles, patterns, and a component library across fleet operations and customer-facing products.
  • Define standards for representing autonomy state, system confidence, and exceptions.
  • Partner with Engineering on front-end implementation standards and review design quality as the organization grows.

Fleet Operations Design

  • Own end-to-end design for remote assistance, dispatch, and fleet monitoring tools from discovery through high-fidelity execution.
  • Design high-information-density workflows where escalation handling, decision latency, safety, and reliability are critical.
  • Partner with the Fleet Operations Product Manager to translate operator and customer needs into scalable interfaces.

Customer Experiences

  • Design airline- and airport-facing operational dashboards, performance reporting, and SLA visibility tools.
  • Create a coherent visual and interaction language across operator-facing and customer-facing products while respecting their different contexts.
  • Partner with Product, Commercial, and Operations teams to align customer surfaces with service capability.

Research and Discovery

  • Conduct research with airline and airport customers and internal operators at active deployments.
  • Establish usability testing, contextual inquiry, and operator-shadowing practices suited to an early-stage company.
  • Translate research findings into design decisions and actionable product requirements.

Qualifications

  • Have a BFA, BS, or equivalent experience in Design, HCI, or a related field.
  • Bring 5+ years of product design experience owning complex, multi-surface products end to end.
  • Have experience designing operator-facing or operations tooling where reliability is non-negotiable.
  • Provide a portfolio showing information-dense interfaces, real-time data, and complex workflows.
  • Have shipped 0-to-1 products without relying on an established design system.
  • Have established design standards, component libraries, or design systems from scratch.
  • Demonstrate strong interaction, visual, and information architecture skills.
  • Communicate design rationale to technical and non-technical audiences and manage stakeholders effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with teleoperations, remote assistance, fleet management, or real-time monitoring products.
  • Background in autonomous vehicles, robotics, aviation, industrial operations, or safety-critical domains.
  • Experience as a first designer or early design hire at a startup.
  • Familiarity with users operating under time pressure, cognitive load, or safety-critical conditions.
  • Comfort partnering with front-end engineers and contributing to implementation discussions.
