Senior Underwriter (FGA Dept)

About This Role

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, evaluate, and underwrite new and renewal FGA risks within delegated authority limits
• Analyze financial statements, risk profiles, contractual terms, and market conditions to determine acceptable risk and pricing
• Prepare underwriting proposals, terms, conditions, and recommendations in line with company policies and regulatory standards
• Monitor portfolio performance, loss ratios, and exposure accumulations, and recommend corrective actions where required
• Support business development by engaging with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders to grow profitable business
• Review and negotiate policy wordings, endorsements, and special terms
• Ensure compliance with internal underwriting guidelines, reinsurance requirements, and regulatory frameworks
• Mentor and provide technical support to Junior and Intermediate Underwriters
• Participate in audits, peer reviews, and underwriting committee discussions as required
• Contribute to process improvements, product development, and underwriting best practices

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, Insurance, or a related field
• Professional insurance qualification such as ACII, CPCU, or equivalent is preferred
• Minimum 7–10 years of underwriting experience, with at least 3–5 years in a senior or complex underwriting role
• Proven experience in FGA or similar specialty lines
• Familiarity with local insurance regulations and market practices
• Experience working with underwriting systems and reporting tools
• Strong ability to adapt to a dynamic company environment
• Computer literacy certification would be an advantage
• Fluency in English is required
