Senior Telecom Engineer

Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Lead telecommunications design and technical delivery across concept, preliminary, detailed, and IFC design stages.
• Develop and review designs, specifications, reports, calculations, drawings, equipment schedules, system architectures, and network diagrams.
• Design and coordinate fibre optic backbone, structured cabling, IP/MPLS, transmission networks, CCTV, public address, passenger information, access control, radio, telephony, intercom, and master clock systems.
• Coordinate interfaces with Signaling, Train Control, Cybersecurity, SCADA, Power, MEP, Civil, Track, Architecture, and third-party systems.
• Lead design reviews, workshops, interface coordination, constructability reviews, and value engineering.
• Review technical proposals, design submissions, supplier documentation, and installation requirements against approved designs.
• Resolve design queries, RFIs, and coordination issues; support installation, integration, testing, and commissioning where required.
• Ensure compliance with client requirements, project specifications, railway standards, and quality procedures; guide telecommunications engineers.

Required qualifications and experience

• At least 15 years of overall engineering experience, with most experience gained in Rail and Metro projects.
• Extensive railway telecommunications design and technical delivery experience on major rail infrastructure projects.
• Strong railway telecom architecture, network, systems integration, and multidisciplinary coordination knowledge.
• Experience with the listed railway telecom systems and coordination with other rail disciplines.
• Experience developing and reviewing technical specifications and design documentation.
• Knowledge of railway and applicable international standards; proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant telecom/network design tools.
• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunication, Electronic, Electrical, Communication Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills; fluent English.
• Experience in international consultancies, rail integrators or contractors, rail upgrades, GCC/UAE requirements, or BIM/digital engineering is preferred.
