About the role

The role is for an experienced Senior Project Manager delivering high-profile technical projects with impact in telecoms security and innovation.

The successful candidate will lead Agile delivery teams, manage stakeholders, and drive projects from inception through successful delivery.

The role supports UKTL's work in telecoms security and resilience alongside technical specialists, CTO teams, suppliers, and stakeholders.

What you will do

  • Oversee end-to-end delivery of complex technical projects and programmes focused on security research and testing in a telecoms environment.
  • Manage roadmaps, scope, budgets, schedules, risks, dependencies, quality, governance, reporting, RAID logs, and delivery plans.
  • Lead Agile squads and facilitate sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Work with technical teams to understand requirements, remove blockers, and maintain delivery momentum.
  • Manage suppliers, negotiate contracts and change requests, and coordinate stakeholders across multiple workstreams.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement across projects and delivery processes.

What we are looking for

  • Experience delivering complex technical, infrastructure, engineering, IT, cloud, or digital transformation projects.
  • Strong expertise in project planning, estimation, budgeting, scheduling, governance, and risk management.
  • Experience leading Agile delivery teams and embedding Agile ways of working.
  • Ability to understand technical concepts and work effectively with highly technical teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Experience managing third-party suppliers and commercial relationships.
  • A proactive delivery-focused approach and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Telecoms, data centre, networking, cloud, or cybersecurity experience is advantageous but not essential.
  • Candidates must hold unrestricted DV clearance or be able to obtain it.

Workplace and flexibility

  • Successful applicants must be able to commute to the UKTL offices in Birmingham at least twice a week.
  • The employer states that full-time, part-time, and flexible options may be considered where business needs allow.

About UKTL
