Senior Technical Officer (Civil)

Role purpose

Maintenance and team accountabilities

• Ensure the team performs assigned work well and has appropriate knowledge of assets and installations.
• Train team members in maintenance tasks and complete preventive maintenance correctly and on time.
• Complete corrective work on time, assist subcontractors, and ensure work quality.
• Report defects, breakdowns, damage, and spare-parts requirements or availability.
• Follow engineer and manager instructions; undertake projects assigned by the Line Manager.
• Assist in preparing documents for internal or external audits.

Operational and HSEQ duties

• Follow company standards for hygiene, dress, and conduct, as well as client rules and the HSEQ Management System.
• Attend required training and report incidents, near misses, health events, and equipment or tool shortages.
• Prepare method statements, risk assessments, and COSHH documents, and ensure required permits are in place.
• Ensure staff have required statutory training, understand method statements and risk assessments, and implement their control measures.
• Ensure staff have appropriate PPE and use suitable machines and tools; report errors or observations on risk documents to HSEQ.

Qualifications and capabilities

• Diploma in Engineering or equivalent.
• 10 years of relevant maintenance experience in a compatible facility.
• Knowledge of regulations such as OSHA, MSDS, NFPA, or BS.
• Team-building, problem-solving, dispute-resolution, and training skills.
• Ability to work with people at all levels and establish work priorities.
