Role overview

Senior operational role in an adult supported living service, working with the management team to keep the service organized, compliant, and safe.

The role combines shift leadership, staff support, quality checks, and direct support for residents.

Leadership and staff standards

  • Lead shifts, direct support workers, allocate responsibilities, and ensure required tasks are completed.
  • Set standards for professionalism, punctuality, and quality of care; coach less experienced staff and challenge poor practice appropriately.
  • Identify staff performance concerns and escalate them to management.
  • Support new staff through induction and shadow shifts and ensure effective handovers.
  • Promote an accountable, solution-focused culture; notice concerns, address what is appropriate, and escalate issues needing management oversight.

Quality and compliance

  • Check daily records and support documentation and ensure care and support plans are followed.
  • Check MAR charts and medication records, support medication audits, and identify discrepancies.
  • Ensure incidents, accidents, and safeguarding concerns are recorded and escalated appropriately.
  • Monitor cleaning and environmental checks, health and safety requirements, and required daily, weekly, and monthly checks.
  • Identify documentation gaps, support internal audits and quality assurance, maintain accurate confidential records, and promote consistent policy compliance.

Resident support

  • Promote independence and daily living skills and provide personal care where required.
  • Support medication, appointments, shopping, budgeting, meal preparation, community access, emotional wellbeing, activities, and relationships.
  • Encourage choice, control, and independence and support residents to maintain their homes.
  • Complete key-working sessions and help residents work toward agreed outcomes with meaningful goals, clear actions, and evidence of progress.

Home standards

  • Help maintain clean, safe, well-kept living environments and ensure household responsibilities and cleaning schedules are completed.
  • Report maintenance issues promptly and maintain food hygiene, infection-control, and health and safety standards.
  • Support residents to maintain their own living environments.

Candidate profile

  • The employer seeks an experienced support worker ready to step up, or an existing senior seeking greater responsibility.
  • Take ownership of shift standards, act as a positive role model, and use initiative to find out, take action, and follow issues through.

Pay and contract

  • Pay is £15 per hour.
  • The posting states 40 guaranteed contracted hours per week and a permanent contract.

Schedule

  • Predominantly daytime work, every other weekend, and occasional or ad-hoc night work when required.

Benefits and development

  • Benefits include paid annual leave, a workplace pension, ongoing development, regular supervision and management support, and progression opportunities toward team leader or deputy manager roles.
