About the Company

General Intuition is a frontier lab building large action models and world models that perceive, predict, and act across virtual and physical environments.

General Intuition builds on Medal, a large and fast-growing platform for gaming clips where millions of gamers capture, share, and discover new games.

The company has raised over $650M from Khosla, GC, Valor, and Point72 since October 2025 and closed a round at a $6.2B valuation.

The Role

Join the Recorder team as a senior engineer working on the core of Medal: software that captures, encodes, and records gameplay on users' machines.

Work includes game integrations that power features like auto clipping.

Engineers from Game Integrations, Front End, and interns regularly contribute to the recorder codebase, so a big part of the role is making that safe and easy.

Design and architect solutions a team can maintain, set up guardrails and best practices, and help the codebase mature.

Hands-on work across the recorder stack: capture, hooks, encoding, and game integrations.

The team wants someone who likes working across the whole system and sharing knowledge, not someone who owns one silo.

What We're Looking For

  • Confident using C#, .NET Framework, and win32 in performance-critical contexts.
  • Proven software engineering expertise building maintainable, extensible systems.
  • A collaborative, team-first mindset: share knowledge, pair with others, and help the team avoid single points of failure.
  • Result-driven: everything is driven by metrics and feature performance; the team moves fast and ships regularly.
  • Gaming: a passion for games and gaming communities, and a user of Discord and other gaming products.
  • In-person: hiring in NYC to work alongside the product team, 5 days a week in the office.

Great to Have

  • C/C++.
  • Graphics APIs e.g. DX11, DX12, and Vulkan.
  • Reverse engineering, hooking/injection, modding.
  • Game engines.

Our Stack

  • The team works primarily in C#, .NET Framework, C++, and GitHub actions.
  • Collaborates closely with sister teams: front end (Electron/React), back end (Java), and infrastructure (Terraform).

Compensation

  • Compensation Range: $180K - $275K.

Responsibilities

  • Work on the core of Medal: software that captures, encodes, and records gameplay on users' machines
  • Build game integrations that power features like auto clipping
  • Design and architect solutions a team can maintain
  • Set up guardrails and best practices for the recorder codebase
  • Help the codebase mature so anyone can make changes cleanly and with confidence
  • Work hands-on across the recorder stack: capture, hooks, encoding, and game integrations
  • Make it safe and easy for engineers from other teams and interns to contribute to the recorder codebase
  • Share knowledge and avoid single points of failure on the team
