Senior Staff Product Manager - Data Protection

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Drive the data protection and resilience roadmap and deliver measurable customer value.
• Collaborate with customers, engineering, cloud infrastructure, security operations, governance, field teams, and UX.
• Define product vision and execution for backup, recovery, and resilience initiatives aligned with business and technical objectives.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• 12+ years of product management experience, including 6+ years leading enterprise-scale data protection, backup/recovery, or disaster recovery products, including managed service providers.
• Demonstrated success embedding resilience capabilities into petabyte-scale enterprise data platforms and improving SLA attainment and recovery confidence.
• Deep expertise in backup systems, storage, replication, immutable storage, ransomware recovery, DR orchestration, and RPO/RTO optimization.
• Knowledge of hybrid/multi-cloud architecture, data sovereignty, residency, storage tiering, and cost optimization.
• Exceptional communication, customer engagement, market analysis, and competitive benchmarking skills.

Technical expertise

• Expertise includes deduplication, compression, snapshot management, replication topologies, air-gapped storage, and retention design.
• Platforms include Rubrik, Veeam, Cohesity, Commvault, Zerto, NetBackup, AWS Backup, Azure Backup, and Google Cloud Backup and DR.
• Protect AI/ML and analytics workloads, including training data, model checkpoints, feature stores, and data pipelines.
• Understand retention lifecycle management, legal hold, eDiscovery readiness, and compliance schedules for PII, PHI, and PCI.
• Architect enterprise backup and Agentic AI resilience strategies; anticipate new architectures, AI-driven anomaly detection, and sovereignty mandates.
