Senior Solution Architect

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Partner with senior business and technology leaders to translate business needs into technology decisions and roadmaps.
• Own technical scope from architecture through implementation and delivery planning; modernize legacy systems and design greenfield applications, APIs, and integrations.
• Select modernization patterns and enable product teams to adopt them while maintaining existing applications.
• Design scalable, cost-optimized cloud-native SaaS and microservices architectures for distributed, multi-platform environments.
• Write and review code, integrate AI, ML, or LLM capabilities, and implement CI/CD pipelines and delivery automation.
• Make architecture decisions, identify technical risk, and own architectural standards, practices, artifacts, and documentation.
• Lead and mentor a small developer team through coaching, pairing, code review, and AI-assisted development practices.
• Evaluate products and work with Information Security and Enterprise Cloud to ensure security and regulatory compliance.

Required qualifications

• 10+ years working with and executing software development design patterns, methodology, and lifecycle.
• 5+ years modernizing and refactoring legacy technologies, and 5+ years with distributed, cloud-native, API, and microservices architecture, including service orchestration.
• 5+ years developing and operating microservice, containerized, or serverless applications.
• Experience with application performance management, diagnostics, and issue resolution.
• Experience with development frameworks and cloud-native tools, including CI/CD, UML, Java, .NET, Docker, Kubernetes, JavaScript, and AWS/Azure.
• Experience delivering highly available, resilient solutions that meet regulatory and information security requirements.
• Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks and tools and understanding of AI concepts, algorithms, and applications.
• Must be legally able to work in Canada, eligible to handle US export-controlled data, and not pose a risk for safeguarding controlled goods.

Preferred qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher and knowledge of Cloud Well-Architected principles.
• Experience designing Big Data solutions, Medallion architecture, or Distributed Data Mesh, including tools such as Databricks, Palantir, or Snowflake.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; ability to inspire and lead.
• Experience researching, advising on, comparing, and recommending technology solutions and staying current with new technologies.
• Systems-thinking ability and experience with airplane health and maintenance domains.

Compensation

• Salary range is CAD 124,000–222,000 for Level 5; starting salary depends on post-secondary education completed, qualifications, and experience.
• Benefits and pay are determined in Canada; this is a locally hired Boeing Canada position, not an expatriate assignment.
• Relocation assistance is not negotiable. Employer will not sponsor employment visa status.
