Role overview

Join Rippling’s Platform team, which builds core services and cross-cutting products used by other engineering teams.

The team owns analytics, customizable workflows, data platform, reporting, permissions, and custom fields products across customer-facing and core platform layers.

Rippling Query Language (RQL) supports customer queries and scripts for formula fields, Data Cloud applications, and product extensions; its components include a grammar, parser, query translator, distributed query engine, and distributed datastore.

Responsibilities

  • Work on distributed processing engines and distributed databases.
  • Develop software using technologies such as Python, MongoDB, CDC, and Kafka, and big data tools including Aurora, Trino, Presto, Pinot, Iceberg, and Flink.
  • Build custom programming languages and scalable data platforms, data lakes, and data ingestion systems.
  • Design, develop, code, and test software systems, products, improvements, and user-facing experiences.
  • Contribute to product design and implementation, collaborating with architects and senior developers and taking projects from idea to production.

What you will need

  • 5+ years of experience in backend engineering roles.
  • Experience writing testable and performant backend code.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience mentoring less-experienced developers.
  • Ability to work autonomously and explore creative solutions.

Work arrangement

  • For office-based employees living within a defined radius of a Rippling office, current policy requires working in the office at least three days a week.

Pay

  • The stated US Tier 1 salary range is $168,000–$280,000 per year; compensation varies by location and candidate-related factors.
  • The role also offers benefits and equity.
