About Gemini

Gemini is a crypto and Web3 platform offering products and services to individuals and institutions.

Money team and role

The Money team owns the ledger platform, payments services, and reconciliation pipelines connecting Gemini to banks, payment rails, and external partners.

The team’s systems support finance, compliance, treasury, and regulatory reporting, with correctness treated as essential.

The Senior Software Engineer designs, builds, and operates core money-movement systems at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, deploy, and support ledger and payments services recording crypto and fiat money movement.
  • Build and evolve settlement and reconciliation pipelines connecting to payment rails and banking partners.
  • Identify correctness, consistency, and operational risks and implement safeguards.
  • Work with finance, reconciliation, and treasury teams to create robust, auditable system behavior.
  • Design scalable APIs and data models for new transaction types, products, and regulatory requirements.
  • Write production-grade, well-tested code; monitor system health; identify issues; and support incident response and remediation.
  • Mentor teammates and participate in on-call rotations as needed.

Minimum qualifications

  • At least 5 years building backend systems in production.
  • Strong experience designing and operating distributed, stateful systems where data integrity is critical.
  • Proficiency in at least one backend language; Scala and Go are used, and candidates may learn them.
  • Experience with unit testing, integration testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Ability to reason about and debug complex behavior across services and data stores.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional partners.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with ledger systems, accounting platforms, payments infrastructure, or financial transaction processing.
  • Familiarity with double-entry bookkeeping, reconciliation, audit requirements, or regulatory reporting.
  • Experience integrating external payment rails or banking partners, including ACH, wire, or card networks.
  • Familiarity with Temporal, Cadence, or similar workflow orchestration systems, or a fintech or financial-services background.

Compensation

  • The base salary range is $140,000–$200,000 in New York; the range excludes discretionary bonus and equity.
  • The package includes a discretionary annual bonus and a new-hire equity grant.

Benefits

  • Benefits include health plans, 401(k) matching, paid parental leave, and flexible time off.

Workplace

  • Gemini describes a hybrid approach at U.S. hub offices, balancing in-person collaboration with remote flexibility; expectations vary by location and role.
  • Employees outside hub locations are part of the remote workforce; all employees must onboard in person at an office location.
