The role offers hands-on coding and influence over technology and architectural decisions.
Responsibilities
- Work with clients, engineering colleagues, and other staff to understand requirements and implement technical solutions.
- Lead engineering implementation and collaborate with experts and architects on solutions.
- Contribute to engineering ceremonies, ways of working, and solution development activities.
- Share knowledge, experience, and best practices with the engineering team and wider company.
- Contribute to platform deployment on commercial cloud and client on-premise environments.
- Help evolve the development environment and automate platform deployment.
- Work with payments and financial-domain technology using Java, Spring, Kafka, and cloud technologies.
Key technologies
- Java 17 and above; Spring Boot ecosystem; data processing, analysis, and modelling.
- Relational databases including JPA/Hibernate, and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.
- Microservices architecture, Kafka, Elastic Stack including Elasticsearch and Kibana.
- Docker containers and Linux operating system.
- Excellent written and oral English communication, including technical and non-technical presentations.
Further interests or experience
- Further interests or experience may include reactive programming with WebFlux/Reactor, Kubernetes/OpenShift, or messaging systems such as IBM MQ.
- Additional interests or experience may include graph, clustering, or supervised and unsupervised machine-learning analytics and algorithms.
- DevOps technologies may include Jenkins, Ansible, Gradle, Terraform, Vault, or Consul.
- Experience deploying software in regulated financial services environments may be relevant.
