Senior Software Engineer (Java) - Fixed Income (AVP)

Role Overview

Role Expectations

• Design and develop large, complex, distributed systems.
• Build trade capture and processing systems for fixed income products.
• Prioritise tasks, work to deadlines, and respond pragmatically to changing expectations.
• Use strong communication skills to produce client solutions.
• Other job-related duties may be assigned as required.

Knowledge and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Engineering, or a similar relevant major.
• Proven experience designing and developing high-performance, low-latency, multi-threaded applications.
• Extensive hands-on Java development experience.
• Ability to learn new business concepts and technologies.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes.

Technical Requirements

• Strong software development fundamentals, including data structures, design patterns, and object-oriented programming.
• Core Java proficiency, including multi-threaded applications, data structures, algorithms, collections, and error handling.
• Expertise with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA, and Spring Security.
• Ability to design, develop, and deploy independent, loosely coupled microservices.
• Ability to design, develop, and consume RESTful web services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience with Maven or Gradle for project management and build automation.
• Ability to develop clean, testable code.
• Understanding of relational database concepts and SQL.
• Experience with Jira, Git or Bitbucket, Gradle, and CI/CD tools such as TeamCity and UrbanCode Deploy.
• Experience with Linux or Unix and cloud technologies including Artifactory, Docker, and OpenShift.
• Knowledge of fixed income products, customer and broker market platforms, and trading protocols is desirable.

Working Model

• Hybrid working model with up to two days working from home per week.
