Senior software engineer integrating third-party sensors and mitigation systems into Fortem’s SkyDome Family of Systems.
The platform connects third-party hardware with Fortem TrueView sensors and DroneHunter interceptors.
Responsibilities
- Develop C++17-or-higher integrations for radar, RF, EO/IR, acoustic sensors, and mitigation systems.
- Build and maintain driver/interface layers, SDKs, and adapters for ASTERIX, NMEA, and proprietary vendor APIs.
- Define integration requirements and interface control documents with hardware, systems engineering, and product teams.
- Create automated tests for data fidelity and system-level performance; debug real-time and multithreaded distributed systems.
- Participate in design and code reviews and support field testing and customer-site deployments.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of professional C++ software development, with proficiency in C++17 or higher.
- Experience integrating third-party hardware/sensors using serial, Ethernet, or custom protocols.
- Strong multithreaded, real-time, and networked systems programming knowledge; Linux development experience.
- Familiarity with Git and CI/CD; strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred qualifications
- Counter-UAS, radar, or defense/aerospace systems experience.
- ASTERIX, DDS, ROS/ROS2, or similar sensor-fusion middleware familiarity; sensor fusion, track correlation, or multisensor processing experience.
- Active U.S. government security clearance or ability to obtain one.
- Containerized deployment experience with Docker/Kubernetes.
