Senior Software Engineer in Test (SET)

Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement test strategies for complex cloud-native platform components.
• Build frameworks for integration, contract, and system testing across infrastructure, data, APIs, and services.
• Drive shift-left testing and bake testability into architecture, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.
• Lead fault injection, resilience testing, performance benchmarking, and production-readiness validation.
• Collaborate across engineering, SRE, and product teams to ensure reliable platform behavior.
• Set standards for distributed, event-driven system testing and enable observability-driven debugging.
• Automate validation of availability, latency, throughput, and recoverability.
• Continuously validate access controls, data protection, and policy enforcement.

What you bring

• Quality or software engineering experience focused on platforms, infrastructure, or backend systems.
• Deep understanding of system testing, failure modes, and fault-tolerant distributed-system design.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, AWS, service meshes, CI/CD, and observability tooling such as OpenTelemetry or Grafana.
• Strong programming in Kotlin, Java, Go, or Python, with a test automation mindset.
• Familiarity with resilience patterns, chaos testing, synthetic traffic, and platform health metrics.
• Product mindset and care for developer user experience.

Hybrid working

• Work in person two or three days a week from the London office or a London-based client office.
