Work in a backend-led full-stack role using Kotlin or modern Java with the JVM ecosystem, plus React and TypeScript.

How you will make an impact
- Build reliable JVM-based services and design APIs and integrations.
- Deliver end-to-end features connecting backend services and data with responsive web interfaces.
- Create automated tests and improve build, test, and deployment pipelines.
- Use AI-assisted engineering tools thoughtfully and validate outputs for correctness, security, and maintainability.
- Contribute to event-driven workflows, architecture discussions, code reviews, logging, metrics, and distributed tracing.
- Address technical debt, performance issues, reliability risks, and operational security considerations.
What's important to us
- Strong commercial experience with Kotlin or modern Java, ideally Java 17 or later.
- Good knowledge of the JVM ecosystem and backend development practices.
- Experience designing, building, and operating APIs.
- Understanding of reliability, maintainability, performance, and security.
- Proven experience writing effective automated tests.
- Practical experience with relational databases.
- Experience with modern frontend development, ideally React and TypeScript.
- Familiarity with CI/CD and supporting software in production.
- Experience working in an agile, product-focused engineering team.
- Curiosity about AI-augmented engineering and willingness to develop new ways of working.
Desirable experience
- Practical experience with AI-assisted development or productivity tools.
- Familiarity with asynchronous and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with Spring Boot, Quarkus, Micronaut, Ktor, cloud platforms, or containers.
- Experience building shared platforms, common services, or greenfield technical foundations.
- Experience in regulated or financial-services environments, payments, transaction processing, or travel.
Working environment
- Work as part of a cross-functional engineering squad with product, design, and delivery colleagues.
- The role may include client-site work, occasional travel, or agreed on-site working depending on project and client requirements.
- The role remains substantially hands-on while offering opportunities to influence technical direction and support other engineers.
