Experience and skills required
- Strong experience developing high-quality, scalable software solutions with Python.
- Experience building and managing cloud data pipelines, data products or analytical platforms.
- Strong data engineering fundamentals, including modelling, quality, governance and optimisation.
- Experience with AWS, cloud-native data technologies, and Snowflake or a similar enterprise data platform.
- Experience delivering reliable, scalable data processing solutions and production-ready software in agile teams.
- Experience collaborating with data scientists, analysts, product owners and business stakeholders.
- Third-level qualification in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Data Engineering or STEM plus 3+ years' commercial software development experience; or current valid industry-recognised certifications plus 5+ years' experience.
Additional desirable experience
- Experience with dbt, Databricks, Airflow or similar data engineering technologies is welcome but not required.
- Strong analytical SQL, large-scale dataset optimisation, support for machine learning or predictive modelling, data governance controls and distributed cloud processing are desirable.
What you'll do
- Deliver scalable, compliant datasets for insurance pricing and modelling.
- Build Python solutions for data ingestion, transformation and delivery.
- Design and maintain pipelines and data products for pricing, modelling and analytics teams.
- Deliver secure, scalable data solutions using AWS and Snowflake.
- Collaborate with technical, product and business stakeholders to define and deliver solutions.
- Maintain data quality, reliability and compliance with engineering practices and automated testing.
- Contribute to platform architecture; maintain CI/CD and engineering standards.
- Mentor engineers and assess technologies to improve the data engineering ecosystem.
