Role overview
Build customer-facing cloud and instrument software, as well as internal tools for in-house protein screening services.
Work across the full software development lifecycle with biologists and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities
- Define use cases and requirements with biologists and other stakeholders.
- Translate requirements into technical designs and implement them in code.
- Write tests to verify correctness.
- Own features end to end and work directly with key stakeholders to deliver outcomes.
- Maintain code in line with current best practices.
Essential requirements
- At least 5 years of industry experience as a software engineer.
- Confidence working across backend, frontend, DevOps, and QA.
- Product mindset, experience gathering requirements and owning features end to end, and direct stakeholder collaboration.
- Java and Python; REST and WebSocket APIs; a backend web framework such as Micronaut or Spring.
- Google Cloud or an equivalent provider such as AWS or Azure.
- HTML, CSS, TypeScript or JavaScript, and React or an equivalent such as Angular.
- Containerisation such as Docker or Podman; automated testing such as JUnit, Mockito, or pytest.
- Automated build and deployment pipelines; Git version control.
Desirable skills
- Java Reactive Streams, asynchronous Python, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, Helm, Flux, Terraform, Figma, Balsamiq, or GitLab CI.
- Claude Code or an equivalent AI coding assistant; experience with bioinformatics data processing pipelines.
