Join a small AI Enablement team building tools, platforms, and practices that help Xero engineers work with AI.
Own solutions from early experimentation through production, including runbooks, monitoring, and rollback planning.
Help shape an internal skills marketplace and AI distribution platform used across the engineering organization.
Initial focus
- Build an internal skills marketplace and distribution platform for AI tools used by Xero engineering teams.
- Develop guidance and best practices for authoring agent skills, including agents for remediation tasks.
- Work with AWS, Microsoft, and GitHub on early-access technology not yet available in the market.
- The stated stack is C#, .NET, and AWS, with Python and TypeScript used along the way for AI tooling.
What the employer is looking for
- Hands-on software engineering experience; C#, .NET, and AWS are ideal, but experience with another stack is welcome.
- Experience building internal tools or platforms relied on by other engineers.
- Production discipline, including runbooks, monitoring, and rollback planning.
- Clear communication and the ability to bring people along with ideas.
- Curiosity about coding agents and AI-native tools, respectful challenge, and structured, quality-focused learning.
Location and work arrangement
- Candidates may be based anywhere in Australia or in New Zealand.
- The team works hybrid, connects across time zones, and holds regular in-person team days.
- The team is spread across Melbourne, Sydney, and the Sunshine Coast, with a product manager in Wellington.
Team context
AI Enablement is part of Engineering Experience and supports product engineering teams through platforms, tooling, and practical guidance.
The team collaborates across locations through regular syncs.
