Job introduction

The Senior Software Development Test Engineer leads quality engineering for complex product areas.

The role designs test strategies, advances automation coverage, and drives software reliability across Tekion platforms.

Partners with engineering, product, DevOps, and other teams to build quality into development from design through release.

The position calls for strong manual and automated testing experience and proactive risk identification.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead test planning, design, and execution strategy for complex features, integrations, and major releases.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize automated suites for functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Review requirements, designs, and stories to identify risks, gaps, and test coverage needs early.
  • Oversee testing across applicable web, mobile, APIs, backend services, and platform components.
  • Work with developers and product managers on defect investigation, root cause analysis, and product quality.
  • Trace requirements, test cases, defects, and release outcomes.
  • Drive API, database, integration, and data validation testing for complex and distributed systems.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD build and deployment pipelines.
  • Monitor quality metrics, defect trends, and test effectiveness; recommend improvements to reduce production risk.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level test engineers in test design, automation, debugging, and quality practices.
  • Support test environment readiness, test data strategy, and release certification.
  • Champion ongoing improvement of QA methods, tools, standards, and team processes.

Basic qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, or software development, with strong automation and complex system validation experience.
  • Deep understanding of SDLC, STLC, and Agile or Scrum methodologies.
  • Proven experience designing and executing comprehensive manual and automated test strategies.
  • Strong experience with Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Appium, REST Assured, or similar automation tools.
  • Proficiency in at least one of Java, Python, JavaScript, or a similar programming or scripting language.
  • Experience testing APIs, databases, distributed systems, and end-to-end workflows.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and practices such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or equivalent.
  • Experience with Jira, TestRail, Azure DevOps, or similar test management and defect tracking platforms.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills; ability to lead testing across multiple priorities.
  • Ability to use AI tools such as Claude and Copilot to improve productivity and efficiency.
