Role overview

The Senior Development Engineer in Test is a developing professional role that handles most problems independently and applies specialty knowledge and professional judgment.

The role supports technology projects and affects the quality and timeliness of work for its own and closely related teams.

Responsibilities

  • Support UAT initiatives and product rollout; work with technology project managers, UAT professionals, and users to design and implement application test scripts and plans.
  • Conduct moderately complex process monitoring, product evaluation, and audit assignments; report issues and recommend solutions.
  • Ensure software development lifecycle standards and procedures are documented and followed; recommend documentation enhancements.
  • Automate functional test cases and monitor products and processes for conformance to standards and procedures.
  • Document findings, perform preliminary root-cause analyses, and recommend improvements.
  • Ensure corrective actions are assigned, documented, and completed; verify traceability in project work products.
  • Gather, maintain, and report quality metrics.
  • Apply factual analysis and technical judgment to evaluate issues, select solutions, and communicate findings.
  • Provide informal guidance to new team members.
  • Assess risk, follow applicable laws and policies, and transparently escalate, manage, and report control issues.

Experience and qualifications

  • At least 7 years of functional testing experience with complex multi-tier applications and demonstrated automation expertise.
  • Strong end-to-end system testing experience.
  • Proficiency building and maintaining automation frameworks from scratch, with strong Java and TypeScript skills.
  • Knowledge of Core Java and SQL, including experience interacting with multiple databases and complex software systems.
  • Proven record automating tests for large platforms; experience working with global teams.
  • Bachelor’s or university degree, or equivalent experience.

Required and preferred skills

  • Must-have skills: Java, DBMS, Git, Bitbucket, and JIRA.
  • Familiarity with AI testing methodologies and tools such as Copilot or Claude is listed as experience knowledge.
  • Performance testing and Python are good to have.

Salary information

  • The posted full-time salary range is $94,300–$141,500; no pay cadence is specified.
