Senior QA Engineer owning end-to-end quality for product areas spanning mobile apps, embedded device firmware, and cloud services.
The role combines exploratory testing on physical devices with automation development for CI.
Location is Mumbai; the role is on-site Monday to Friday.
Key responsibilities
- Own test strategy, planning, and release quality from requirements review through production sign-off.
- Review product requirements and technical designs to identify gaps, edge cases, and risks.
- Test Android/iOS apps, device firmware, and backend APIs across functional, regression, integration, performance, and compatibility areas.
- Build automated mobile UI, API, and device-level suites; integrate tests into CI/CD and drive coverage targets.
- Investigate connectivity, OTA, audio/video, sensor, and app-device synchronization issues using logs and debugging tools.
- Track quality metrics and report release readiness to engineering and product stakeholders.
- Triage production escalations and coordinate resolutions with developers, product managers, and support teams.
- Mentor junior testers, review work, and improve QA practices, processes, and tools.
- Contribute to release planning, risk assessments, and go/no-go decisions.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Electronics, or a related field.
- 4+ years of hands-on QA experience, including 2+ years testing mobile applications and/or hardware or IoT products.
- Strong command of test design, risk-based testing, regression strategy, and defect lifecycle management.
- Automation experience with at least one of Appium, Selenium, or Playwright and scripting skills in Python or Java.
- API testing experience; working understanding of REST, JSON, authentication, and backend data flows.
- Familiarity with Android/iOS debugging tools and device/OS fragmentation.
- Experience integrating automated tests into Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar; experience using Git.
- Working knowledge of SQL and Linux command line.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, clear communication, independence, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Experience testing embedded/IoT devices, robotics, or consumer electronics, including firmware, OTA, BLE/Wi-Fi provisioning, and audio/video pipelines.
Preferred qualifications
- Familiarity with testing AI/ML features such as speech recognition, conversational responses, or vision-based interactions.
- Understanding of child-safety, privacy, and COPPA/GDPR-K compliance for products designed for children.
- ISTQB Foundation or equivalent certification.
