Candidate Profile

• The candidate should have substantial experience writing high-quality software in Python.
• The role requires extensive knowledge of Python tools and frameworks, scientific Python, and web development frameworks.
• The candidate should make pragmatic design decisions and balance usability, maintainability, and delivery time.
• Strong verbal and written communication, collaboration, mentoring, self-motivation, organization, and time management are expected.
• Practical AI/ML framework experience in Python, including large language models and agentic tools, is a plus.
• Participation in open-source development and communities is preferred.

Team Responsibilities

• Develop and support MongoDB Python drivers and libraries including PyMongo, Django MongoDB Backend, PyMongoArrow, and LangChain MongoDB.
• Write and maintain open-source specifications for common behavior and APIs across MongoDB drivers.
• Investigate bugs and support requests from customers, open-source users, and internal users.
• Collaborate with Product and Server teams on new user-facing MongoDB features.

Expected Impact

• Within one month, understand driver architecture and MongoDB while completing small bug fixes or feature tickets.
• Within three months, contribute day to day by fixing bugs, implementing features, investigating issues, and reviewing peer code.
• Within six months, implement major features, contribute to driver specifications, ship an open-source library feature, and help shape the roadmap.
• Within twelve months, improve code quality, performance, and maintainability while leading major feature design and specification.

About MongoDB

Compensation

• The Canada base salary range for this role is $137,000 to $189,000 CAD.
• Compensation depends on factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and work location, and may include equity and other benefits.
