Senior Protection Engineer - Field Testing

Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Deliver field testing and engineering consulting for substation and hydro or generation power station systems, including FAT, SAT, and commissioning.
• Lead development of inspection and test plans, isolation sheets, and work procedures.
• Review and approve test plans, test and commissioning reports, and project documentation.
• Guide and mentor less experienced team members.
• Prepare major project estimates and proposals for internal and external clients.
• Support compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
• Contribute to project management and business development initiatives.

Skills and experience

• Approximately seven years of experience and expert knowledge in testing and commissioning secondary systems, controls, and protection schemes for high-energy generation and transmission.
• Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Computer skills, particularly with automated protection testing.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to mentor and coach team members.

Work arrangements

• Flexible working arrangements are available.
• Project assignments may involve intrastate, interstate, and overseas travel.

Salary

• Base salary starts from $177,000 plus super.
