The Project Manager (Civil Engineer) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the successful execution of hotel and data center construction projects from inception to completion.
The role ensures that projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with contractual requirements, quality standards, and client expectations.
The Project Manager will lead multidisciplinary project teams, manage contractors and consultants, coordinate with stakeholders, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations, technical specifications, and industry best practices.
Project Planning & Management
- Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, and closing of hotel and data center construction projects.
- Develop project execution plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation strategies.
- Define project scope, objectives, milestones, and deliverables in alignment with client requirements.
- Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Ensure projects are completed within approved timelines and budgets.
Design & Technical Coordination
- Coordinate with architects, consultants, structural engineers, MEP engineers, and specialized data center consultants.
- Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and technical submittals.
- Ensure design compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and project requirements.
- Manage design changes and value engineering initiatives to optimize project performance and costs.
Construction Management
- Oversee site activities and ensure adherence to approved construction methodologies.
- Coordinate contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and site teams.
- Monitor construction quality and ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections and progress review meetings.
- Ensure proper commissioning and handover procedures are implemented.
Cost Control & Budget Management
- Prepare and monitor project budgets and cost forecasts.
- Review contractor valuations, variation orders, claims, and payment applications.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and project objectives.
- Monitor project financial performance and report variances to management.
Schedule Management
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using project management software.
- Track critical milestones and project deliverables.
- Identify schedule risks and implement mitigation plans.
- Ensure coordination between all project disciplines to avoid delays.
Contract Administration
- Manage construction contracts and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Review and negotiate change orders, claims, and contract amendments.
- Coordinate with legal and procurement teams regarding contractual matters.
- Maintain proper project documentation and records.
Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Conduct project meetings and provide regular progress reports.
- Ensure effective communication among all project participants.
- Manage client expectations and address project-related concerns promptly.
Health, Safety & Quality
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Promote a strong safety culture across project teams and contractors.
- Monitor implementation of quality assurance and quality control procedures.
- Ensure all works comply with local regulations and international standards.
Data Center-Specific Responsibilities
- Coordinate civil works with critical MEP systems, power infrastructure, cooling systems, and IT requirements.
- Ensure compliance with data center reliability and uptime standards.
- Coordinate commissioning and integrated systems testing activities.
- Support certification requirements where applicable (Tier Standards, LEED, etc.).
Hotel Project-Specific Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with hospitality brand standards and operator requirements.
- Coordinate guest experience-related design and operational requirements.
- Manage fit-out, FF&E coordination, and operational readiness activities.
- Oversee project handover to hotel operations teams.
Reporting
- Prepare weekly and monthly project reports.
- Report project progress, risks, budget status, and key performance indicators to senior management.
- Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Master's Degree in Project Management or Construction Management is an advantage.
- PMP Certification preferred.
- Additional certifications in construction management or data center infrastructure are advantageous.
Experience
- Minimum 8–12 years of experience in construction project management.
- Proven experience managing hotel, hospitality, mixed-use, or data center projects.
- Experience managing large-scale construction projects from design through handover.
- Strong background in contractor and consultant management.
