Senior Product Engineer / AI-Native Tech Lead

About the role

Product and architecture

• Understand business requirements and convert loosely defined ideas into technical requirements and product specifications.
• Choose technology stacks and design databases, APIs, authentication systems, and application workflows.
• Identify edge cases, scalability concerns, and technical risks before development.
• Decide what should be custom-built and what can use existing platforms, APIs, or automation tools.

Full-stack development

• Build complete web and mobile applications including frontends, backend APIs, databases, authentication, authorization, role-based access, files, notifications, payments, integrations, and AI functionality.
• Own products from initial idea through deployment and ongoing operation.

AI-native development

• Use Claude Code, Codex, ChatGPT, Cursor, Gemini, GitHub Copilot, OpenRouter, or similar tools to accelerate development.
• Use AI tools for code generation, refactoring, debugging, testing, documentation, architecture exploration, and repetitive development work.
• Review AI-generated code for architecture quality, security problems, inefficient implementations, and technical debt.
• Develop AI applications using model APIs, structured outputs, function and tool calling, agents, RAG, vector databases, embeddings, prompt engineering, and orchestration.
• LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, or similar frameworks are useful but not mandatory.

Technology environment

• Preferred frontend technologies include React, Next.js, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and Tailwind CSS or similar frameworks.
• Backend experience may include Node.js and TypeScript or Python with FastAPI or Django.
• The environment may include PostgreSQL, SQL, Redis, Supabase, Firebase, React Native, Expo, or Flutter.
• Infrastructure includes Git, GitHub, Docker, REST APIs, webhooks, CI/CD, cloud hosting, logging, monitoring, backups, and environment management.
• AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, Vercel, Railway, Render, Supabase, or similar platforms are useful.

Engineering quality

• Ensure code quality, architecture, documentation, testing, security, error handling, logging, monitoring, database migrations, backups, production deployment, performance, and maintainability.
• Collaborate directly with business users and make independent architecture and debugging decisions.

Team leadership

• Guide a junior AI and Automation Engineer by breaking products into tasks, delegating work, reviewing code, and providing mentorship.
• Establish development standards, maintain GitHub repositories, document code, and ensure features are tested before release.
• This is a hands-on role requiring extensive individual coding.

Candidate profile

• Approximately 4-8 years of software development experience is sought.
• At least 4 years of Senior Product Engineer experience is required.
• Candidates should have independently built and deployed complete applications.
• Candidates should understand frontend and backend development, databases, APIs, integrations, software security, and maintainable code.
• Candidates should be comfortable with substantial ownership, direct business-user collaboration, and regularly learning and experimenting with AI technologies.

Compensation

• Pay is ₹900,000 to ₹1,200,000 per year.
• Compensation within the range depends on experience, technical capability, product thinking, and selection performance.

Work location

• The role is hybrid remote in Kolkata, West Bengal.
