Role overview

Automation and self-service

• Migrate Akamai configuration from manual Control Center changes to Terraform-first workflows.
• Build reusable, documented modules for properties, rule trees and DNS.
• Create self-service workflows for hostnames, redirects and caching rules, with policy checks, validation and staging tests.
• Integrate edge configuration into GitLab CI/CD and ServiceNow change control, with peer review, testing and environment promotion.
• Use Python and Bash with Akamai APIs to automate bulk changes, certificate expiry checks, drift detection and inventory reporting.

Edge delivery and routing

• Own Akamai design, configuration and operational health across staging and production networks.
• Maintain URL redirection, rewrite and forwarding logic across public and internal domains, including rationalising inherited redirect chains.
• Configure edge hostnames, CP codes, origin selection, failover and load balancing for multi-origin, multi-region delivery.
• Set caching and delivery strategies for compression, HTTP/2 and HTTP/3, image and video delivery, and API acceleration.
• Run cache purge and invalidation workflows for release and incident response.
• Support multi-CDN and failover strategy through Global Traffic Management and contribute to disaster recovery and resilience planning.

Security and governance

• Configure and tune Site Shield, network lists, IP allow-listing, WAF and bot mitigation controls.
• Manage SSL/TLS certificates for edge properties in coordination with Venafi, ensuring they reach the edge ahead of expiry.
• Maintain an auditable inventory of properties, hostnames, certificates and CP codes, and review and remediate configuration drift and stale entries.
