Overview
- The Senior Officer Baggage Handling Systems (BHS) holds a crucial role in managing the day-to-day baggage operations across all ADIA terminals.
- This includes tasks, but not limited to, managing the daily allocations, efficient planning and managing of BHS resources, for both Arrivals and Departure facilities, ensuring the implementation of contingency measures and business continuity plans, and coordinating maintenance schedules.
- Additionally, they manage the daily briefings with internal and external stakeholders, and ensure operational information is shared between all relevant parties.
- Moreover, they offer support and coordinate with the BHS Contracts team on maintenance procedures and resolutions and ensure uninterrupted baggage operations to achieve high customer satisfaction.
- Critical decision-making during system breakdowns and effective communication with stakeholders are also integral aspects of their responsibilities.
- Ultimately, the Senior Officer Baggage Operations plays a central role in maintaining smooth operations and fostering positive relationships within the airport environment.
- Lead and drive the of team of BHS O&M supervisors and Control room operators to achieve departmental delivery goals and provide timely and accurate BHS operations & System performance information to Stakeholders.
- Oversee, support and manage the day-to-day operations of the BHS and fully Accountable for reporting and escalating non-conformities to the BHS Management and relevant stakeholders, as and when required.
- Ensure the BHS & Baggage Operation complies with AD Airports policy, procedures other relevant standards and legal regulations.
- Proactively manages the BHS operation, checks and records the BHS resource utilization.
- Conducts regular inspection of the BHS and baggage operation facilities, to ensure areas are safe for operations, as per company policy.
- Attends relevant operational meetings with stakeholders to provide critical information related to BHS Performance and Baggage Operations and accountable for mitigating operational problems and issues.
- Manages any operational incidents – Irregular Operations (IROPS) and Coordinates with all relevant stakeholders to ensure seamless operations.
- Accountable for ensuring optimal performance and availability of the BHS system.
- Schedule and implement a preventive maintenance plan. Ensure timely completion and smooth handover of the works for ongoing operation.
- Attend major operational issues and manage the implementation of Contingency procedures as stated in BCP.
- Accountable for providing daily, weekly and system breakdown statistics to BHS Management.
- Comply with all HSE policies, procedures, and guidelines, and integrate HSE considerations into daily professional and technical tasks.
- Report hazards, unsafe conditions, and non‑conformities promptly to help maintain a safe and healthy workplace.
- Participate in required HSE training and support environmentally responsible and safe work practices.
- Manages his/her ADA shift team and supplies regular feedback on staff performance.
