Senior Network and Security Engineer

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Design and support enterprise LAN, WAN, wireless, routing, switching, firewall, and VPN infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot complex network issues using packet captures, logs, and traffic analysis; perform root cause analysis.
• Configure VLANs, routing protocols, NAT, ACLs, redundancy, and segmentation; review designs and configuration changes.
• Administer next-generation firewalls, VPNs, security policies, IPS, remote access, DMZs, high availability, and backups.
• Implement identity-based wireless access and support PKI, certificates, encryption, and enterprise identity dependencies.
• Lead deployments and migrations through planning, installation, testing, commissioning, acceptance, and handover.
• Assess risks, harden infrastructure, review access rules, and coordinate audit and vulnerability remediation.
• Maintain service procedures, recovery processes, network records, diagrams, inventories, and incident reports; mentor engineers and coordinate escalations.
• Participate in on-call coverage, critical incident response, and planned after-hours maintenance.

Required qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent substantial professional experience.
• CCNP Enterprise or CCNP Security certification, or demonstrably equivalent advanced hands-on expertise, is essential.
• At least 8 years of relevant hands-on experience, including 3 years in a senior role with independent responsibility for critical services or major implementations.
• Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, OSPF, BGP, VLANs, NAT, ACLs, QoS, high availability, and resilient network design.
• Experience with enterprise firewalls, VPNs, troubleshooting, segmentation, DMZs, hardening, security logging, and incident response.
• Working knowledge of PKI, certificates, RADIUS, 802.1X, enterprise identity services, virtualization, connectivity, backup, and business continuity.
• Customer-facing implementation and migration experience, vendor management, risk assessment, controlled change planning, and clear technical communication.

Preferred qualifications

• A relevant master’s degree is an advantage.
• CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure or CCIE Security and CISSP are strongly preferred.
• Fortinet/FortiGate and Cisco experience is highly desirable; Palo Alto Networks, Aruba, Juniper, Sophos, or equivalent platform experience is advantageous.
• PowerShell, Python, or network automation experience is an advantage.

Work environment and availability

• Based in Abu Dhabi with on-site work and customer site visits; occasional remote work flexibility as required.
• On-call coverage, critical incident response, and planned maintenance outside normal working hours may be required.
