Senior Museum Collection Specialist

About This Role

Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and processes related to collections and artifacts, including storage, classification, and display methods.

Contribute to the preparation of the annual budget and operational plan for the exhibition and collections. Supervise the documentation of all museum collections and artifacts, including those at heritage sites and archaeological sites, whether manually, digitally, or through digital photography, and update the relevant database according to best practices and standards.

Take all necessary measures for the preservation, storage, and handling of collections and artifacts.

Conduct periodic inventories and catalogs of collections and artifacts. Conduct research to update museum and archaeological collections and artifacts, including works of art, for inclusion in the collections. Preparing and implementing photographic coverage of collections and holdings, and organizing exhibitions to showcase them.

Presenting creative ideas, initiatives, and modern methods that help display collections and holdings according to the best international standards and practices.

Working to develop the necessary conservation and research capabilities for the holdings. Preparing and implementing a program for periodic preventive and corrective maintenance of holdings and collections.

Coordinating with the relevant department to develop exhibition programs and events aimed at raising awareness of the collections and holdings. Building a strong network of relationships to enhance partnerships with individuals who own collections of art and archaeological artifacts for display in museums. Planning and implementing visual, audio, and interactive elements for displaying collections and holdings

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in conservation and restoration, engineering, historical

6 years or more of relevant work experience.
