Senior Mechanical Engineer (Plumbing)

Role overview

Project delivery

• Manage plumbing works from mobilization through testing, commissioning, and handover on building and infrastructure projects.
• Review design and shop drawings, technical specifications, material submittals, and method statements.
• Coordinate with consultants, clients, main contractors, project managers, and other MEP disciplines.
• Supervise domestic water supply, drainage, soil and waste, stormwater, hot water, pumps, tanks, and related plumbing equipment.
• Ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, UAE codes, and authority requirements.
• Monitor site progress, manpower, materials, subcontractors, and schedules.
• Prepare and review material requisitions, technical submissions, inspection requests, and progress reports.
• Conduct site inspections with QA/QC and coordinate testing, flushing, pressure testing, commissioning, and inspections.
• Resolve technical issues and trade coordination conflicts; coordinate timely material delivery with suppliers and procurement.
• Monitor project costs and resource use, minimize material wastage, and comply with health, safety, and environmental requirements.

Leadership and handover

• Attend project meetings and report progress, risks, and delays to project management.
• Review as-built drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, and handover documents.
• Lead site engineers, supervisors, foremen, and technicians to achieve quality workmanship and timely completion.

Required qualifications and experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 10 years of plumbing and mechanical works experience in an MEP contracting company.
• Strong execution and supervision experience on high-rise, residential, commercial, hospitality, or infrastructure projects.
• Experience managing plumbing work from installation through testing, commissioning, and handover.
• UAE MEP contracting experience is mandatory.

Technical requirements

• Knowledge of UAE plumbing regulations, authority requirements, and relevant international standards.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, and ability to interpret technical drawings.
• Knowledge of shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, inspection procedures, and project documentation.
• Experience coordinating with consultants, contractors, suppliers, and other MEP disciplines.
• Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and project coordination skills.

Preferred qualifications

• MEP contracting or consultancy experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of local authority regulations is preferred for UAE-based candidates.
