Position Overview
Stress Man Limited seeks a highly experienced, resourceful, and delivery-focused Senior Mechanical Engineer to support its growing customer base.
Location is Derby, UK, with travel across client sites throughout the UK.
The role is permanent at a minimum of 40 hours per week.
Design and Analysis Duties
- Design and modify key multi-spool low-pressure compressor components such as discs, stators, aerofoils, seals, and attaching parts.
- Prepare certification reports, design record books, and definition solutions accounting for layouts, clash checks, materials, weights, and tolerances.
- Conduct design trade studies and iterate existing architectures to improve performance, materials, weight, cost, and aerodynamic and thermal properties.
- Perform 2D and 3D stress analysis using advanced modeling techniques.
- Collaborate with internal teams including stress analysis, life management, and materials to meet project requirements.
- Perform technical authoring and implementation of gas turbine engine design and repair solutions.
- Support Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) shops to ensure efficient and effective repair processes.
Qualifications
- 6-12 years of experience within rotating turbo-machinery, gas turbine, or aero design and stress.
- Demonstrable experience in gas turbine low- and high-pressure compressor/turbine design and analysis.
- Capable of executing design and development projects and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Bachelors in Aeronautical/Mechanical engineering or equivalent.
- Willingness to travel 100% to client sites across the UK.
- Ability to commute or relocate to Derby, Derbyshire.
Preferred
- Experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) projects is preferred.
- Development of rig design, analysis, and integration is preferable.
Compensation
- Salary of £40,000 to £50,000 per year.
- Expenses including subsistence and mileage allowances are reimbursed while working onsite at client locations.
