Role Summary
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead and coordinate mechanical design and engineering activities for projects in Abu Dhabi, ensuring compliance with local authority regulations, international standards, and project specifications.
The role is ideal for candidates with a strong design consultant background, capable of providing technical leadership and supporting construction teams with effective engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and review mechanical design deliverables including calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports
- Coordinate with design consultants, PMC, and client representatives on mechanical engineering matters
- Review IFC drawings, shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements for mechanical systems
- Ensure compliance with Abu Dhabi DMT/ADM, Estidama, and Civil Defence requirements
- Apply international codes and standards such as ASHRAE, CIBSE, NFPA, SMACNA, and ASTM
- Provide technical support to site teams and resolve mechanical design and installation issues
- Review and respond to RFIs, technical queries, and design clarifications
- Participate in design coordination meetings and value engineering initiatives
- Support authority submissions and approvals related to mechanical works
- Coordinate mechanical interfaces with architectural, structural, electrical, and specialist systems
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred)
- Minimum 12 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer, with strong exposure in a design consultancy
- Proven experience on projects in Abu Dhabi or UAE
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, drainage, fire fighting, and gas systems
- Proficiency in design and analysis software such as HAP, Carrier E20, IES, AutoCAD, Revit MEP
- Familiarity with UAE construction practices and authority approval processes
- Ability to work effectively with contractors, PMC, and multidisciplinary teams
