The Senior Manager of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution
is responsible for upholding and administering the Student Code of Conduct by leading investigations, adjudicating non-academic conduct cases, and managing the operations of the Conduct Council Hearing Board and Appellate Committees.
The role also involves facilitating mediation, providing training and educational outreach, and offering expert consultation on conduct matters.
This position ensures compliance with university policies, UAE laws, and regulatory frameworks, while also promoting students’ ethical development and contributing to a safe, respectful, and transformative learning environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee and direct the operations of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution (SCCR) in alignment with the mission of the Office of Student Experience and the University.
- Develop and implement short- and long-term goals for SCCR, leveraging team capabilities to achieve strategic objectives.
- Respond promptly to reports of non-academic student misconduct from various university stakeholders and adjudicate high-level cases involving individuals, residential students, and student organizations.
- Review and update the Student Code of Conduct, Student Pledge, and Student Handbook annually; propose edits and policy expansions.
- Refer students exhibiting behavioral concerns to the Student of Concern Committee and follow up to support success and retention.
- Manage and maintain the Student Infraction and Management System in collaboration with IT.
- Serve as a key resource on Student Code of Conduct policies and procedures for the AUS community.
- Promote mediation services and conduct training sessions on mediation for students.
- Design and deliver training for Conduct Council Hearing Board (CCHB) members and update the CCHB and Appellate Committee manuals.
- Coordinate the recruitment and onboarding of student members to the CCHB in consultation with the Executive Director - Student Residential Life and Conduct.
- Supervise SCCR personnel; oversee recruitment, budgeting, and request resources for staff development.
- Manage the OSE Student Verification System and ensure smooth operations.
- Represent SCCR on departmental, divisional, and university-wide committees as assigned by the Executive Director - Student Residential Life and Conduct.
- Execute additional tasks and special projects as assigned by the Executive Director - Student Residential Life and Conduct.
Qualifications And Skills Required
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (A Master’s degree is preferred and considered a plus).
- In-depth knowledge of student conduct administration, conflict resolution pathways, relevant legal frameworks, and privacy regulations.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and professionally.
- Diplomacy and discretion when engaging with students, families, and university stakeholders in sensitive and confidential matters.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated commitment to student development, equity, and inclusive practices.
- Ability to interpret and analyze data, apply critical thinking, and utilize various assessment tools within the student conduct process.
- Proven capacity for independent judgment and sound decision-making.
- Proficiency in using Student Infraction Management Systems and other conduct-related platforms.
- Trained in Title IX or equivalent frameworks, with the ability to investigate and manage cases involving interpersonal misconduct in alignment with university policy and legal standards.
- 7 years and above in Higher Education depending on educational qualifications and working with Students.
- Experience in investigating techniques, conflict management trainings and workshop facilitation
