Position Summary
The Senior Manager, Business Development is a commercially driven leader responsible for expanding the company’s international health insurance portfolio across key Asia markets.
Working at the intersection of strategic planning, client relationship management, and market development, this role will drive sustainable revenue growth through new business acquisition, broker and distributor partnerships, and in-market commercial initiatives.
This is a high-visibility role requiring deep regional market knowledge, executive-level relationship skills, and a proven record of closing complex, multi-stakeholder insurance deals across diverse Asian markets..
And Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Business Development & Revenue Growth
- Develop and execute a market-specific business development strategy to grow premium revenue across target Asia markets including but not limited to Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
- Identify, pursue, and convert new business opportunities across corporate, SME, and multinational client segments.
- Lead end-to-end sales cycles from prospecting through negotiation to contract execution.
- Meet and exceed annual new business revenue and pipeline targets as set by regional leadership.
Broker & Channel Partner Management
- Build and manage a high-performing broker, intermediary, and distribution partner network across the region.
- Negotiate commercial agreements with brokers, employee benefits consultants, and affinity partners.
- Deliver regular training, product updates, and co-selling support to distribution partners.
Strategic Planning & Market Intelligence
- Conduct ongoing competitive analysis and market mapping to identify growth opportunities and emerging trends in Asian health insurance markets.
- Provide strategic input to product, pricing, and underwriting teams to ensure commercially viable and competitive offerings.
- Represent the company at industry forums, conferences, and client events across the region
Stakeholder Collaboration & Reporting
- Collaborate closely with underwriting, actuarial, claims, and operations teams to support the delivery of high-quality client solutions.
- Maintain accurate pipeline and activity records in CRM systems; provide regular forecasting and performance reporting to senior leadership.
- Mentor and support junior business development staff within the regional team.
Essential
- 10+ years of progressive business development or sales experience in health insurance, life insurance, or employee benefits, with significant exposure to Asian markets.
- Demonstrated success in achieving and exceeding revenue targets in a B2B insurance environment.
- Deep knowledge of international private medical insurance (IPMI) or group health insurance products.
- Established broker and intermediary network across multiple key Asia markets.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
Preferred
- Experience working with multinational corporations (MNCs) or managing regional accounts.
- Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., ACII, CEBS, or local insurance licensing).
- Multilingual capability; proficiency in Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, or other Asian languages is a strong advantage.
- Postgraduate qualification (MBA or equivalent) is a plus.
