Machine Learning & AI Engineering forms a key part of our strategy, and as an Senior Machine Learning & AI Engineer you will be contributing the largest ever transformation in this history of financial services.

In this role, you’ll design and deliver end-to-end AI and ML solutions, combining advanced modelling techniques with robust engineering practices.

You’ll work on productionising AI and ML pipelines that solve complex data challenges, ensuring they are scalable, efficient, and secure.

As a Senior Machine Learning & AI Engineer, you will lead on designing patterns, tooling, and templates to rapidly and efficiently deploy models into production.

Scaling AI/ML solutions on strategic infrastructure and integrating them into existing systems.

Your role would include the following activities:

• Lead the design and implementation of advanced AI/ML and systems, including agentic systems.
• Develop and maintain scalable AI/ML pipelines and infrastructure.
• Collaborate with data scientists to understand model requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Optimize models for performance, accuracy, and other required metrics (e.g. latency, token usage).
• Deploy and monitor AI/ML systems in production environments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to AI/ML systems.
• Mentor junior AI/ML engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Stay updated with the latest AI/ML technologies and best practices.

We're keen to speak to candidates with experience who have strong skills in:

• Python: Has an holistic understanding of Python and can make intuitive decisions in familiar contexts. Capable of implementing multi-threading and asynchronous programming using tools like threading and asyncio. Optimize performance using profiling tools and apply advanced debugging techniques.
• Software Engineering: Can use design patterns, experience and best practices to design, test and amend complex programs/scripts and integration software services.
• Machine Learning: Has experience of using advanced methods such as forecasting, ensemble methods and model stacking. Uses experience to situationally assess and advise on the most appropriate Machine Learning solution to tackle existing and new scenarios. Can Troubleshoot and fixes model performance issues with the fitted models.
• Foundation Model Application: Independently makes decisions about Foundation Model Applications, considering the strengths and limitations of different models. Takes ownership of foundation model-related decisions and tasks, ensuring they align with organisational goals.
• Google Cloud Platform: Can use existing guides and templates to build standard products following best practice
• AI & ML Solution Design: Can apply knowledge of the strengths and limitations of AI/ML and takes ownership of AI/ML Solution Design decisions and tasks, ensuring they align with organisational goals. Can demonstrate evidence and experience of independently makes decisions about AI/ML Solution Design to solve problems.
