Overview

This is an exceptional role for a Senior Legal Counsel who is interested in working for one of the leading Sovereign Wealth Funds in the UAE.

The role comes with a comprehensive remuneration package.

The role will provide legal support and commercial advice across all corporate functions, with a focus on drafting, negotiating and reviewing a broad range of contracts and operational matters.

The role also supports policy development and engages externally with vendors, law firms and regulatory bodies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Render accurate and timely counsel to senior management on a range of legal matters
  • Serve as the primary legal partner to core Corporate Functions, providing clear, business-ready commercial advice.
  • Manage legal aspects of assigned projects, coordinating with the internal support and business teams and external legal counsel
  • Ensure that the Fund's operations and activities are at all times in conformity with the applicable legislation in the pertinent countries and advise Management on any relevant developments in law or regulation
  • Review and ensure quality control of legal documents and advise relevant signatories / senior management on material content as required
  • Communicate and negotiate with external parties (asset managers, external counsel, public authority etc.), creating relations of trust
  • Partner with stakeholders to update and develop policies/standards
  • Candidate requirements:
  • 6 - 15 years of PQE in a similar position with a major financial institution or top-tier law firm
  • Experience in corporate and commercial contracting and operational legal support
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, cross-functional matters independently and provide pragmatic, solution-oriented legal advice
  • Advanced legal drafting and negotiation skills for diverse contract types
  • Experience with general corporate/commercial laws and frameworks
  • Ability to synthesise legal, commercial, and governance considerations into clear, actionable recommendations for senior management
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels of seniority and from different cultural backgrounds, showing flexibility with different viewpoints and styles
