About the Role
Mawarid Holding Investment is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Senior Legal Counsel to join our Legal Affairs team in Abu Dhabi.
Reporting directly to the Group Legal Director, the successful candidate will serve as a trusted legal advisor to senior management and business stakeholders across the Group, providing strategic legal guidance, managing complex commercial transactions, and supporting the organization's continued growth and governance objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide practical, business-focused legal advice to executive management and key stakeholders.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on a wide range of commercial agreements, including supplier contracts, customer agreements, NDAs, licensing arrangements, leases, and tender documentation.
- Lead and support corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and corporate restructuring initiatives.
- Oversee corporate governance matters and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
- Manage intellectual property registrations, protection strategies, and enforcement matters.
- Lead dispute management activities, including coordinating with external legal counsel and advising on litigation strategy.
- Develop and enhance legal templates, policies, playbooks, and governance frameworks.
- Mentor and support junior legal team members, contributing to their professional development and overall team effectiveness.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB), LLM, or an equivalent qualification.
- Qualified lawyer with an active legal qualification.
- 5–8+ years of post-qualification experience (PQE), ideally with a combination of private practice (international law firm) and in-house experience.
- Experience in commercial and corporate legal practice. Litigation experience is an advantage.
- Regional exposure and excellent knowledge of UAE laws and regulations.
- Proven experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
- Strong legal research, analytical, and drafting capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Preferred
- UK qualification.
- Combination of international law firm and in-house legal experience.
- Experience handling mergers and acquisitions (M&A), corporate governance, and dispute management.
- Arabic language skills (spoken, reading and writing) are an advantage.
- Exposure to legal technologies, including digital automation and AI-enabled legal tools.
