Role overview
Join the Development team supporting a Tier 1 customer and build backend systems for mission-critical aviation software.
Collaborate with product, engineering, and quality teams in a modern distributed architecture.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Java backend services and APIs.
- Build secure, high-performance, scalable code and event-driven or asynchronous processing.
- Collaborate across product, engineering, QA, and operations teams.
- Contribute to Java standards, tooling, and code review practices; mentor teammates.
- Troubleshoot, optimize, monitor, and support production systems.
- Apply security, privacy, and compliance standards and contribute to architecture discussions.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of hands-on Java development focused on backend services.
- Knowledge of object-oriented design, SOLID, functional programming, and design patterns.
- Experience with REST APIs, distributed systems, and asynchronous or event-driven processing.
- Proficiency with Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Hibernate/JPA, or equivalent.
- Experience with relational databases, data modeling, production troubleshooting, monitoring, and Agile/Scrum.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred qualifications
- Microservices, Docker or Kubernetes, cloud platforms, CI/CD, automated testing, and regulated environments.
- Oracle Database and PL/SQL or experience in aviation, aerospace, logistics, or another regulated industry.
Location and schedule
- Fully onsite in Coral Gables; remote work is not offered.
- First shift, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; may need to support customers in different time zones on different shifts.
- Domestic and international travel, including extended periods, is preferred.
